Qualifications for Registration
The Institute will accept the application for student’s membership of applicants who possess any of the following qualifications:
 
(i)   Degree of an approved University
 
(ii)  Higher National Diploma from any polytechnic/ Colleges of Technology
 
(iii) Final Examination Certificate of recognized professional bodies
 
(iv) Applicants with National Diploma (ND) or studying in any approved Higher Institution.
Mature Candidate
Mature candidates applying to take the Institute examination must satisfy the following condition.
  • Must have work in the Public Service for a period of not less than 10 years
  • Must be above 30 years of age
  • Have a minimum of 5 papers in WASC/GCE’O’ Level. (The five papers must include English Language)
  • Complete application from for mature candidate which is obtainable on request from the Institute

Examination
There are four stages of the Institutes Professional Examination. Each stage consists of four subjects. Candidate must pass all four subjects in each stage before proceeding to the next stage.

To pass a stage of the examination, candidate must satisfy the Examiners in all the subjects taken at a sitting. Candidate with marginal failure in one or two papers may be referred in the affected paper(s).The affected paper(s) must be passed within the next two examination diets before proceeding to the next stage. Failure to pass the referred paper(s) within the stipulated period means automatic cancellation and repeat of the four papers in the affected stage.

 
Examination Centers
The examinations will be held in each state capital including Abuja. How ever, if a state does not have the minimum number of students required for examination to be held in a state, the student from that state will be required to sit for the examination in the nearest centre.
Registration for Examination
Only registered students, who have paid current annual subscription, may sit for the Institute’s examination. Application to sit for the examination must be made in form prescribed by the Council and obtained from the Institute. The current and correct examination fee must accompany the examination form to be submitted.
 
Examination Time –Table
Examination are usually held in the third week if the months of March and September each year. The time –table is as follows:

Closing Date for Examination
Closing date for receipt of entries for March examination is January 31st while for September examination is July 31st.
Exemption
Exemption is at the Institute’s discretion. Exemption from subject in any of the stages is given where the qualification has covered the relevant subject syllabus to the depth tested in the Institute’s examination. Exemption from any subject in stage I & II can only be given to holders of HND, B.Sc., MBA and holders of relevant professional qualifications. Such applicant will be expected to pay the full examination fees for which exemption had been granted.
Applicant for exemption from foundation must complete the exemption form and submit to the Registrar enclosing the following:
 
(i)    Copies of relevant certificate (original copies must be sighted and photocopies stamped and marked original sighted by officer of the Institute authorized to receive such forms /applications)
(ii)    The fee payable for the foundation examination
(iii)    N2, 000.00 for any exemption granted on a subject in stage I only.
NOTE:
Exemption can only be granted on one subject only in stage I or II No exemption from any subject in stages III & IV.
 
Examination Results
The Institute relies heavily on its Examiners and their decision on any examinations conducted by the Institute is final. Examination result will be out six weeks after each examination.
